Description

Quebec, New York, Vermont, Maine. 'A Map of the Inhabited Part of Canada from the French Surveys; with the Frontiers of New York and New England from the Large Survey'. Title on a bluff with trees, waterfalls, rocks. In foreground two figures in European dress examine a skin offered by an native American Indian holding a bow; another Indian seated smokes a pipe of peace. Dedicated to Major General John Burgoyne. Scale: 1 inch to about 12.5 miles. List of British regiments with their winter quarters in 1776. By Claude Joseph Sauthier. Engraved by William Faden, London, 1777. Published 25 February 1777 by William Faden, St Martin's Lane, Charing Cross. Shores and boundaries coloured.
