Canada: 'The Island of Newfoundland, laid down from Surveys taken by Order of the Right Honorable the Lords Commissioners of Admiralty': map. Scale: 1 inch to about 15 miles. Population table. Compass rose. A note taken from H Addington's minute of a later date says that the northern and western coasts of the island from Cape St John to Cape Ray were French fishing territory by the Treaty of 1783. By Lieutenant Michael Lane, Principal Surveyor of the said Island, 1790. Published by William Faden, Charing Cross, 1 January 1791.
