'Stanford's New Hand Map of the United States of North America': shows towns, political divisions. A red line marks seceded states. Scale: 1 inch to 140 miles. Key to symbols. Published by Edward Stanford, 6 Charing Cross, London, 13 May 1861. The map was used to illustrate the Treaty of Ghent between Britain and the United States, 15 June 1846, defining the Canadian boundary. The boundary is coloured according to each article of the treaty and marginal notes name the commissioners under each article and explain the colours used.
