Admiralty chart 2689. 'North America West Coast Haro and Rosario Straits'. Reference table. Magnetic variation in 1859. Compass roses. Three copies, one tinted and showing alternative boundary lines between Canadian and American territory. Surveyed by Captain G H Richards and officers of H M S Plumper, 1858-1859. Coasts based on American surveys of 1841 and Captain H Kellett's survey, 1847. Reduced from the originals and drawn for engraving by Edward J Powell. Minor corrections to December 1871. Coloured manuscript additions show a boundary line through the Gulf of Georgia, the Douglas and Middle Channels and to the Juan de Fuca Strait. A pencilled note by E Hertslet [Foreign Office Librarian] reads: 'Received from Lord Tentedern, (who told me the Red Line was marked by Adml. Prevost) June 26/ 71'. Engraved by J and C Walker. Published at the Admiralty, London, 28 July 1859.
