Map: 'Rough sketch of the Northern Frontier of Ethiopia. By Walter Plowden, Esqre [Esquire], Her Majesty's Consul in Abyssinia Massowah, 1854'. The map shows coast, rivers, mountains, and towns in an area between 34 degrees and 42 degrees east and between 13 degrees and 19 degrees north. Scale: 1 inch to about 25 miles. Note on boundaries defining 'modern Abyssinia' and 'districts last ravaged by Egyptian troops', an area centred on Keren. Coloured additions show borders of modern Ethiopia.
