Map of area in West Africa. 'Chart prepared with a view to show the present state of the slave trade on the west coast of Africa'. The chart, prepared for the Select Committee on African Slave Trade, shows places where chiefs had engaged in treaties to abolish the slave trade, places where slave vessels were captured, and mission stations. Reference table to mission stations. The manuscript additions, ?1875, highlight territories ceded to and maintained by France. Scale: 1 inch to about 100 miles. Inset map of Africa showing journeys, Portuguese possessions, and territory claimed by the Imaum of Muscat. Prepared by John Arrowsmith. Printed by H Hansard, 1850.
