[Mount] Hampden to Beira', showing route taken by Dr Jameson and Major Johnson, proposed alteration to route, Portuguese stations, Kaffir kraals. Some notes on terrain. Reference table. Scale: 1 inch to about 17 miles. Print of enclosure in Colonial Office letter of 8 January 1891. Lithographed by Judd and Company. Marked 'Proof'. Leander Starr Jameson (later knighted) persuaded Lobengula, the Matabele king, to allow the pioneer expedition to Mashonaland in 1890. Jameson accompanied it as far as Salisbury, and from there, explored a route to Beira.
