Map of areas now in Benin and Nigeria. Admiralty chart 1861: 'West Coast of Africa, Sheet XVI, Porto Novo to Jaboo'. Scale: 1 inch to about 4 sea miles. Compass rose. Surveyed by Captain H M Denham, Royal Navy, 1846, and others. Engraved by J and C Walker. Published 10 May 1848; amended to 1877. Seven views of the coast; illustration of French claim to Cutunu [Cotonou]. Manuscript additions show French territory as laid down in 1879, Ketonou and Appa Territories taken under British Protection in 1879 and 1884. Manuscript reference table.
