IDWO 776. Map of area now in Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Angola, Namibia. 'Map of Matabililand and adjoining territories; compiled in the Intelligence Division, War Office, 1889'. Map shows boundary between German and Portuguese spheres of influence, boundary of the British Protectorate of Bechuanaland and disputed territory south-east of Tati. J E Hawkins, October 1889. Uncorrected Proof No 3, revised June 1890. Annotated: 'The Red line enclosed the territory as claimed by Lobengula, according to map signed E A Maund, Matabililand, Feby 1890 [February 1890], furnished by Foreign Office. The Green line shows route sanctioned by Lobengula for B.S.A. Company to Mashonaland and is taken from the above Map'.
