IDWO 776. Map of area now in Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Angola, Namibia. 'Map of Matabililand and adjoining territories; compiled in the Intelligence Division, War Office, 1889'. Map shows boundary between German and Portuguese spheres of influence and boundary of the British Protectorate of Bechuanaland. J E Hawkins, October 1889. Uncorrected Proof No 3, revised June 1890. Annotated: 'The Red Line is taken from Mr. Selous Map of 1889 of Matabililand and is believed to represent the extreme westward limit of country which in his opinion can be claimed by Portugal'.
