Southern and central Africa. 'Map shewing territory claimed by Portugal in Southern and Central Africa. Prepared at the request of the Foreign Office by enlargement from Stanford's Map of Central Africa'. The map shows an area between 8°S and 19°S, extending westward to 24°E. An extensive Portuguese claim is shown to parts of what are now Malawi, Zambia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. Reference table. Scale: 1 inch to 40 miles. Manuscript additions show boundaries of territories claimed by Portugal, which were added at the Foreign Office.
