Writs of dedimus potestatem, with their returns empowering named persons to receive the appointment of attorneys, either for suits to be heard in the court of Common Pleas or in Chancery, administer oaths of fealty to heirs, and receive recognizances of documents.
Oaths were also administered to escheators, coroners, sheriffs, justices of the peace, and a variety of other office-holders.
The series also contains a large number of writs levari facias together with a small amount of miscellaneous material.
Most of these records were formerly included in C 47 and C 202
