Description

Cartulary of the Chantry of Chalgrave, Bedford. In original binding on board; slightly illuminated. The volume opens with the foundation charter of 1 October, 8 Henry IV (cf. Calendar of Patent Rolls, 1405-1408, p.290), and continues with entries of documents to 1 Henry V. Earlier entries range from 23 Henry III to 1305. It has notes that it was exhibited at the royal visitation at Dunstable and that it was examined, 14 March 1544 by Thomas Shele, Master. Late 15th Century. 39 folios
