Description

Most of the records in this series are orders in Council approving bills passed by the Irish parliament and approved by the lord lieutenant of Ireland and his council, and authorising the clerk of the Crown to issue a commission to the lord lieutenant empowering him to give royal assent to such bills. The orders may include amendments required by the Privy Council to the text of bills.

In 1886, work in connection with the preparation of orders in Council under the Winter Assizes Acts of 1876 and 1877 and Spring Assizes Act of 1879, for the uniting of counties for assize purposes, passed from the Home Office to the lord chancellor and such orders exist for the period 1886-1894.
