Sir Sebastian Smythe, Knt. v. Gilbert Jackson, gent., Joseph Sheldon, Thos. Huggins, Walter Andrews, Alice Harper, John Costard, Susannah Page.: Town of Whately, in the county of Oxford, and the value, &c., of farms, &c., in Whately, lately belonging to Richd. Archdale and now to the plaintiff. Right and title to the "waste ground belonging to Whately," to the cottages built thereon, and to common of turbary. Whether there is a manor of Whately. [One deponent says that said manor was held by said Archdale in fee simple of the Crown as of the Castle of Windsor.] Touching the defendant's cottages in Whately and upon the waste aforesaid. Rents of said cottages paid to the overseers of the poor of Whately, &c., &c. [The names and possessions of William Munt, Dr. Joseph Taylor, of St. John's College, Oxford, "an exemplification of a record of the Court of Exchequer by way of inspeximus bearing teste the sixth day of July in the twenty-first year of the reign of Queen Elizabeth, whereby it appears that the said Richard Archdale dyed seized of the said mannor of Whately with the appurt's in fee simple, which was held of the Crown as of the Castle of Windsor by the yearly rent six shills and sixpence," are mentioned.]: Oxford; Berks.
