Description

The Right Hon. John Earl of Exeter and Baron of Burleigh, son and heir of John late Earl of Exeter, Peter Walter, Esq., Noah Neal, Esq. v. Bazil Berridge, clerk: Manor, lordship, and soke of Kirton, and the hundreds of Kirton, Reek, Algar, Swineshead cumWigtoft, Gosbertown-cum-Surfleet, Bickar, Donnington cum Quadring, and Wiberton cum Skirbeck alias Skirbeck Quarter, and lands held by defendant said to be situate in the hundreds of Algar and Reek. Metes and bounds. Survey. Customs of Kirton manor, &c., &c. Whether defendant's said lands are liable to the payment of rents called "Cullyer rents" to the said manor of Kirton? &c., &c. [The names of Charles Berridge, clerk (defendant's late father), and Basill Berridge, clerk (defendant's late uncle), and the names of manors and their owners lying within said soke, viz., in Wiberton a manor called "the King's Manor;" in Frampton, the manor of Stone Hall, lately belonging to the Lady Diana Allington, and Multon Hall, and the manor of Earl's Hall cu' Frame Hundred in Frampton and Donnington, belonging to John Earl of Bridgewater, in Kirton, the several manors of Bosom Hall belonging to Sir Richd. Cust, Orme Hall, belonging to John Browne, junior; in Algarkirk the manor of Hiptoft Hall belonging to Sir Thomas Mears's heirs; in Sutton the manor of Dowsdyke Hall, parcel of the dissolved monastery of Crowland (Lincoln), Sutterton, and is distinguished by three several fees, viz., Fitzwater, Harrington, and [....], now belonging to Charles Woods, esquire; in Donnington the manor of Wykes Hall, belonging to Thomas Cowley, Esq., and my Lady Carrington; in Swineshead several manors, viz., the manor of Swineshead, belonging to Henry Pelham, Esq., the Abbey Court, formerly belonging to John Lockton, Esq., and the manor of East Evening, belonging to Geo. Fairfax, Esq.; in Bickar a manor belonging to the heirs of Sir John Oldfield; in Gosberton and Quadring, a manor lately belonging to the Lord George are mentioned.] [See also 6 Geo. 1., Mich., No. 32, in this Calendar.]: Lincoln
