Description

Wm. Spence, Isaac Danson, Geo. Bridges. v. The mayor, aldermen, and burgesses of the town of Beverley.: Corporation of Beverley and the "mannor, provostry, provost lands, and chapter lands" formerly belonging to the "provost of the church of St. John of Beverley" (York). Whether the liberty of St. John of Beverley "is or ought to be free of all toll within the town of Beverley, and other fairs and markets within England?" Whether "the church of St. Peter's in York, and the liberty of the same is and has been free of all tolls and gatelaws within any town, market, or fair in England?" &c., &c. Touching the town of Bishops Burton alias South Burton, in which the plaintiffs dwell, and the town of Molscroft. Whether said towns are within said liberty of Beverley. Metes and bounds. Tolls of fairs and markets, &c., &c. [See also 2 Geo. 1., East., No. 23.]: York
