Description

Sir Edwd. Northey, Knt. (Attorney-General), at the relation of Edwd. Copley, William Cooke, Joseph Crowther, and Abraham Dransfield, relators. v. Sir George Cooke, Bart.: Manor of Carlinghow alias Carlinghaw alias Kirlinghow, and places parish of Batley (York). Right and title to the wastes and commons belonging to said manor, &c. Metes and bounds. Incroachments. Right of getting coal or stone upon said wastes. What number of manors are there in Batley? Touching the manor of Batley. Touching lands in Barwick, in Elmett, and Scholes belonging to the Copley family, &c., &c. [The names and possessions of Edward Copley (plaintiff's father), John Copley (plaintiff's uncle), Sir Henry Cooke, Bart. (defendant's father), Sir Geo. Cooke, Bart., and Bryan Cooke, Esq. (defendant's uncles), Bryan Cooke, Esq. (defendant's grandfather), Sarah Cooke (daughter of last-named Bryan), John Brewer, Mrs. Sarah Copley (widow of John Copley, sister of Sir Henry Cooke) who afterwards married Mr. Neville, the manor of Morley (lying in Batley aforesaid), of which the late Marquis of Halifax was lord, and the manor of Gilderson, also lying in Batley, Henry Cooke, of Wheatley (York), Sir Geo. Cooke, of Wheatley, Bart., Wm. Eland, of Carlinghow aforesaid, George Druell, of Leeds (York), Geo.
