Description

Short title: Treby v Legh.

Plaintiff(s): Sir George Treby, kt (Attorney - General), at and by the relation of Peter Legh, Thomas Legh, of Lyme, Thomas Legh, of Castleton, Edward Downes, Thomas Swettenham, Thomas Stafford, Edward Downes, the younger, Richard Johnson, Timothy Dobson.

Defendant(s): John Legh, Nathaniel Boothe, Thomas Lunt, William Clowes, William Foxlowe, Robert Plant, John Houghton, John Baskervyle, Edward Thornicroft, John Davenport.

Subject of depositions: Free grammar school of King Edward the Sixth in Macclesfield (Cheshire). Touching the usages and customs, in the election of governors and schoolmasters.

County/place: Cheshire.

Date of commission: 12 February 1692.
