Description

Short title: Treby v Thornicroft.

Plaintiff(s): Sir George Treby, kt (Attorney General), on the relation of Peter Legh, Thomas Legh, of Lyme, Edward Downes, Thomas Swetenham, Thomas Legh, of Castleton, Edward Downes, the younger, Thomas Stafford, Richard Johnson, Timothy Dobson.

Defendant(s): Edward Thornicroft, Thomas Lunt, William Clowes, William Foxlow, Robert Plant, John Baskervile, John Davenport, John Haughton, John Legh, Henry Barber, Nathaniel Booth.

Subject of depositions: Governors of the Free Grammar School of King Edward the Sixth in Macclesfield. Touching the usages and customs at the election of a governor, schoolmaster, or usher of said school by said governors.

County/place: Cheshire.

Date of commission: 28 November 1691.
