Description

Short title: Viscount Irwin v Earl of Mulgrave.

Plaintiff(s): Edward Lord Viscount Irwin, John Harvey, Sir Anthony Abdy, bart John Marwood, Mark Vanvalkenburgh, Robert Goslin, John Sindleton.

Defendant(s): The Rt Hon John Earl of Mulgrave, Robert Ryther, the elder, James Gardner, Doctor of Law, Robert Medley, Robert Ryther, the younger, William Sampson, and others.

Subject of depositions: Manor of Epworth, and the commons, low grounds, and waste grounds within the same, "improved and dreyned by Sir Cornelius "Vermuden and his participants." Touching the seven thousand four hundred acres allotted to Chas I and Sir Cornelius for the King's interest and share therein, and the improvers' charge for draining and improving the whole. Also touching the award of Sir John Banks, kt (Attorney General to Charles 1), made concerning the "drainage" of the marshes, within the manor, and the decree of the Court of Exchequer made for the confirmation of the award.

County/place: Lincolnshire.

Date of commission: 28 November 1687.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 11 January 1688 at Gainesboro'.
