Description

Short title: Attorney General v Trapps.

Plaintiff(s): Sir Robert Sawyer, kt (Attorney General), on behalf of His Majesty the King.

Defendant(s): Thomas Trapps, Peter Hughes,and others.

Subject of depositions: Right and title to lands in the counties of Surrey, Kent, Middlesex, Berkshire, Oxford, Somerset, Sussex, Bedford, Buckinghamshire, and Norfolk. Whether the lands were granted "from" the Crown during the late civil wars to various persons, namely - Cottages in the parish of Redderith, granted "from" the Crown to Thomas Johnson (which one Peter Hill claimed to hold); other lands in the parish to John Alison and Thomas Dodd, to John Robertson and his wife Mary, to John Penson, Ann his wife, an tenements in Dover (Kent), to Henry Leonard; a messuage, , with a piece of land thereto adjoining upon the pier in Dover, and certain other lands lying upon the pier, to Jonn Symonds; a tenement. in the parish of Boxley, and in Wavering, in Boxley (Kent), to Elizabeth Collier, Thomas Collier, and Agnes Collier; the Site of the manor of Rodigund (Kent), to Thomas Edolph, Simon Edolph, and Peter Edolph; and the Site of the manor of West Well to Thomas Taylor; a cottage. in a place called Barrow Green, in Tenham (Kent), to John Caslock; messuages. in Shorne and East Chalke (Kent), and tenements in Redderith (Surrey), to Sir Thomas Lake, his wife Mary, and his son Lancelot Lake; and rents, issues, and profits lately belonging to the Freechapel of Newstead and Bokingfield (Kent), payable by divers persons for the land in the tithing of Holmehurst, in the parish of Sutton, and out of lands in Bolehurst, in the parish of Crambrook and Bolehurst, and out of certain lands in Feehurst (Kent), to Alexander Stafford; and tenths iu the manor of Otford, and the tenths of and for the park of Otford (Kent), to Rowland White; and a parcel of waste in the parish of Hope All Saints, near Rumney (Kent), to William Knell; and a wood called "Whitley Wood" parcel of the manor of Otford (Kent), to Richard Earl of Dorset; and a tenement called "Hughes" in the parish of Minster (Kent), to John Hawkins and John Fowbrey; and the Site of the late Abbey of Malling (Kent), to Sir Francis Cottington, kt; and the Site of the manor of Lee (Kent), to Cordwell Amersley and Edward Brinsopp; and a certain farm called "Nethercombe" alias "East Combe" in East Geeenwich (Kent), to John Cook and Thomazin his wife, or either of them; and closes of land and pasture, parcel of the manor of Giles (Kent), to---; and a capital messuage parcel of the manor of Ledbrooke (Kent), to Cordwell Annersley; and a mill in Maydstone (Kent), to Stephen Curtis; and a tenement and lands called "Brookes" in Higham (Kent), to William Wood and Henry Wood; and the Site of the manor of Northfeet [Northfleet?] (Kent), to Edward Lord Wooten; and rents, issues, and profits, issuing, arising, and growing out of Sutton, Cranbrooke, Gowdhurst, Brenchley, and Sandhurst (Kent), to Alexander Stafford; and the Site of the manor of Deane, with the appurtenances, parcel of the late Monastery of St Augustine, near the walls of the city of Canterbury (Kent), to Richard Barton; and a wood called "West Wood" pertaining to the manor of Bexley (Kent), to Oliph Lee, esq; and the Site of the Priory of Tunbridge, with certain woods called "Kaynhoe Wood" and a parke called The Little Park, in Otford, to Dame Ursula Walsingham, widow; and lands in Otford, together with the park of Otford (Kent), to Rowland White; and marsh land called Bridge Marsh, and other lands, meadow, pasture, and marsh, in the Isle of Groine alias Green (Kent), to Hugh Sotherne and Richard Pemble, and the Site of the manor of Gillingham, and marshes there, and woods called "Hothe" and a pasture called "The West Mead" with other lands in Gillingham (Kent), to Thomas Short and William Short, or either of them; and a messuage and several lands in Bexley (Kent), to Clement Goldsmith; and the Site of the manor of Kidbrooke (Kent), to Cordwell Annersley; and lands parcel of the manor of Windmill (Kent), to George Clegatt; and lands called "Foxenden" alias "Foxendale" in the parish of East Church (Kent), to George Fox; and the Site of the manor of Islingham and the manor of Islingham and rectory there (Kent), to William Lord Cobham and John Hubbard; and a house called "Sowe" and certain lands so called, being parcel.
