Description

Short title: Mainwaring v Smith.

Plaintiff(s): Sir Thomas Mainwaring, bart.

Defendant(s): William Smith, Thomas Wright, Humfrey Swindells, William Lunt, James Jackson, Thomas Ward, Edward Morecroft, Samuel Clowes, James Davenport, Edward Downes, Josh. Stonyer.

Subject of depositions: Manor and forest of Macclesfield within the county palatine of Chester. Touching the collecting (by Humphrey Swindells, late of Ranow (Cheshire), deceased) of fines upon alienation, surrenders or admittances, heriots, and reliefs, as well of the old as of the new cophyold lands, for Sir Randle Mainwaring, kt (plaintiff's grandfather), and also for Phillip Mainwaring, esq, (plaintiff's father), and also for the plaintiff, in the years 1648. Customs of manor, etc.

County/place: Cheshire.

Date of commission: 15 June 1687.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 18 October 1687 at Macclesfield.
