Description

Short title: Attorney General v Jones.

Plaintiff(s): Sir Robert Sawyer, kt (Attorney - General), informant.

Defendant(s): Gayner Jones, widow, William Crosse.

Subject of depositions: Last will and testament and estate, of Robert Charnock, late of Leland, "deacon or priest, sometimes called Mr Manley." Was he priest of or according to the Church of Rome? Was he owner of Leland Hall and the demesnes, and of a tenement called "Starkey's Tenement "? Whether he conveyed such premises to Grace Bold, and to her sister Gayner Jones, "in secret trust for certain Romish priest,?" etc. [Sir Thomas Tildesley and his wife Lady Frances Tildesley, are mentioned].

County/place: Lancashire.

Date of commission: 12 February 1687.
