Description

Short title: Broome v Mayor of Coventry.

Plaintiff(s): John Broome, Thomas Peckham, Thomas Hollis, John Bishop, Thomas Bickerstaffe, Abraham Nicholls, Mary Owen, administratrix of the goods and chattels, rights and credits of Richard Owen, deceased, by bill of revivor.

Defendant(s): The mayor, bailiffs, and commonalty of the city of Coventry, Thomas King, Edward Owen, Thomas Cater.

Subject of depositions: Late coleworkes or cole mynes or cole delph at Hawkesbury and Bedworth, near Coventry, of which the plaintiffs were the "undertakers." Touching the lease of a farm called the Molehouse Farm alias Deanes Farm adjoining the coleworks made by the mayor, of Coventry to plaintiffs ( "undertakers" as aforesaid) and defendant's refusal to grant them a second lease of the farm.

County/place: Warwickshire.

Date of commission: 18 June 1684.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 25 July 1684 at Coventry.
