Description

Short title: Attorney General v Lord Petre.

Plaintiff(s): Sir Cresswell Levins, kt, His Majesty's late Attorney General.

Defendant(s): The Rt Hon John Lord Petre, heretofore John Petre, Esquire.

Subject of depositions: Signing, and authenticity of an indenture of lease (dated 3 November 1673) made between Sir Roger Martin, of Long Melford (Suffolk), bart on the first part, Humfrey Evans, of Hollingwell (Flintshire), of the second part, and the defendant, by the name of the Hon John Petre, of Ingateston, alias Ghing Petre (Essex), esq, one of the sons of the Rt Hon Robert late Lord Petre, deceased, on the third part, and also a release (dated 4 November 1673). [The names and localities of the premises leased and released are not mentioned. See also 35 Chas II Michaelmas Number 30, and 36 Chas II Michaelmas Number 41].

Date of commission: 18 June 1684.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 27 August 1684 at Wygan.
