Description

Short title: Shipperdson v Smith.

Plaintiff(s): John Shipperdson, the younger, and his wife Elizabeth.

Defendant(s): Elizabeth Smith, widow, John Tweddell and his wife Margaret , George Sparke, Dorothy Sparke, Elizabeth Sparke [Jane Smith, Anne Smith, and Mary Smith, by said Elizabeth Smith, widow, their mother and guardian], John Atkinson and his wife Elizth.

Subject of depositions: Estate of Ralph Smith, deceased (late father to the plaintiff Elizabeth and husband to the defendant Elizabeth), and touching lands in Whitton (Durham) held by lease of the master and brethren of the hospital of Sherburne, near Durham, Blacklane, and Sandy Carr, in Shotton, and Hewetson's Moor, in Shotton, purchased by Ralph, and Sandy Carr, situate in Easington, demised to defendant Mary under the Episcopal Seal of Durham. Also touching the last will and testament and the lands of Ralph Smith at Easington, Shotton, Lumley, and Unthank. Also touching the estate of Robert Jameson, late father of defendant Elizabeth (widow of Ralph Smith), and late grandfather to defendants (Jane, Anne, and Mary), and lands called "Read Marshall lands" etc.

County/place: Durham.

Date of commission: 12 February 1684.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 15 April 1684 at Durham.
