Description

Short title: Townley v Haworth.

Plaintiff(s): Richard Townley.

Defendant(s): Jane Haworth, widow, Roger Nowell, Roger Kenyon, Bryan Booth.

Subject of depositions: Plaintiff's real and personal estate, including the manor of Barneside, the capital messuage called Carr Hall, with the demesnes, lying in Barneside, Foulrigg, Munkroid, Colne, Ightenhill, Burneley, and Goosenargh (Lancashire), left to the management of the defendant Jane Haworth on plaintiff's departure from home to join the King's forces as a soldier. Touching the execution of the trust by that defendant, and the payment to plaintiff of the marriage portion promised by defendant Haworth on the marriage of plaintiff with her daughter Jane Stonehewer (plaintiff's late wife). [A messuage in Cheshire called Hasles made over to the plaintiff in part payment of such marriage portion, and Mr Townley, of Royle (plaintiff's uncle), are mentioned].

Date of commission: 30 June 1680.
