Description

Short title: Lady Wentworth v Pryor.

Plaintiff(s): The Rt Hon Philadelphia Lady Wentworth, widow and relict of the late Rt Hon Thomas Lord Wentworth, deceased, Henrietta Maria Lady Wentworth, Baroness of Nettlestead, daughter and heiress of the said Thomas Lord Wentworth, and grandchild and heiress of the late Earl of Cleveland (an infant), by the said Lady Wentworth her mother and next friend, the Rt Hon James Earl of Northampton, and Henry Earl of Peterborough.

Defendant(s): William Pryor, John Kidgell, and others.

Subject of depositions: Sequestration of the estates of Thomas Earl of Cleveland (before-named) by the Parliament. The purchase of the Earl's lands, from the Committee of Sequestrations by Lord Lovelace. Also concerning the marriage of John Lord Lovelace with the Lady Anne, daughter of Thomas Earl of Cleveland, the portion Lord Lovelace was to have with Lady Anne, and the sojourn of the husband and wife with the Earl at the manor of Tuddington (Bedford) about 37 years ago. Whether such sojourn was made as "guests or visitors" or to pay for the same? Touching the sale of Harlington Wood, and Lord Lovelace's lands in Tuddington, etc. Also touching the Earl of Cleveland's sojourn at Lord Lovelace's houses at Water Eaton (Oxfordshire) and Hurley (Berkshire). Whether the sojourn was made as "guest or visitor" or to pay for same? etc.
