Description

Short title: Coventry v Bishop of Winchester.

Plaintiff(s): Sir John Coventry, K.B. son and heir of John Coventry, late of Barton, deceased.

Defendant(s): George Bishop of Winchester, John Bobbett and his wife Mary, William Hill, Bartholomew Came, Henry Sully, Samuel Waterman, Amy Rossiter, Abel Rossiter, Phillip Gadd, Austin Pocock, Robert Mills, Thomas Hite, Thomas Gardiner, Isaac Velvin, Thomas Gale, Walter Gale, William Mills.

Subject of depositions: Manor of Taunton Deane (Somerset), and the twelve customary mills there, two of them called "The Town Mills" and the other parcels of the inheritances of the defendants. Touching the payment of tithe or composition in lieu thereof of the toll of corn, grain, ground at mills.

County/place: Somerset.

Date of commission: 12 February 1675.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 12 April 1675 at Taunton.
