Description

Short title: Bidlake v Gay.

Plaintiff(s): William Bidlake, John Trenaman, Simon Rowe, John Furlonge, John Hodge, the major part of the eight men or governors for the time being of the parish of Anthony, in Cornwall.

Defendant(s): John Gay, clerk, Nicholas Curle, merchant, Paschoe Sargeant, James Endy.

Subject of depositions: "Eight men or governors" of the affairs of the parish of Anthony (Cornwall). Touching the custom of "chusing" the eight men. Whether papers and memorials of customs, usages, of such parish were kept in a chest in the church? Jurisdiction of the governors as to new building, altering, the seats, "and placing the inhabitants of said parish in such degree and order (in said church) as they have thought fitt." Making the rates, maintenance of the church, choice of churchwardens.

County/place: Cornwall.

Date of commission: 24 May 1669.
