Description

Short title: Brabant v Attorney General.

Plaintiff(s): Henry Brabant, Sir Richard Mauleverer, kt and bart Sir Francis Anderson, kt, John Brabant.

Defendant(s): Sir Jeffrey Palmer, kt and bart (Attorney General), Sir Denny Ashburnham, bart Sir George Benyon, kt, Francis Finch, Edward Wingate, late Commissionersand Governors of the Excise, and William Forth, Doctor of Lawes, Robert Huntington, Richard Kingdon, and John James, present Commissioners and Governors of the Excise.

Subject of depositions: Excise of beer and ale. in the county palatine of Durham, Northumberland, and the town and county of Newcastle-on-Tyne. Touching the loss sustained by the revenue of excise in those counties in consequence of the contagious disorder called the plague, and claim of allowances (from the Government) for defalcations made by the farmers of such revenue.

Date of commission: 12 February 1669.
