Subject of depositions: Cell of St Bees "in Coopland Deanery" granted by Henry VIII. by Letters Patent to Sir Thomas Challoner, and granted and confirmed by Edward VI. to Sir Thomas, reserving to the Crown a fee-farm rent of £143 16s 2½d yearly; and granted by Philip and March (by Letters Patent dated on or about 16 January 5 Philip and March) to Cuthbert, then Bishop of Chester, reserving to the Crown 63l. 8s. 4½d. yearly, payable out of the aforesaid fee-farm rent. Arrears of rent due by defendant to Lady Jane Walton, widow and relict of Bryan, late Bishop of Chester.
