Description

Short title: Mayor of Exeter v Shilston.

Plaintiff(s): The mayor, bailiffs, and commonality of the city of Exeter, Nicholas Spicer, Judith Wakeman, George Langworth, and his wife Elizabeth.

Defendant(s): Richard Shilston, Phillip Balston.

Subject of depositions: Ancient mills in the manors of Durverd and Exe Island, in the city of Exeter. Custom of "suit and service" to the mills.

County/place: Devon.

Date of commission: 6 July 1636.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 10 November 1636 at Exeter.
