Description

Short title: Coventry v Walpole.

Plaintiff(s): Sir Thomas Coventry, kt, Attorney General, at the relation of Thomas Browne.

Defendant(s): Dimok Walpole.

Subject of depositions: Commission out of Chancery in the 18th year of James I. for the "laying out" of sundry lands in Pinchbeck, parcel of His Majesty's late manor of Spalding, "withholden and concealed from Thomas Browne, "the lessee in the commission named." Touching the execution of the commission. Authenticity of the town books of Pinchbeck. How the prior of Spalding granted his demesne lands before the dissolution? Right and title of defendant, his grandfather, Robert Walpole, and his father-in-law, Sir Thomas Lambert, to part of the lands in Pinchbeck. [Former surveys and suits in the 10th, 11th, 12th, and 16th years of James I. a parcel of the jointure of the "late Queen Anne" being parcel of the demesnes of the manor of Spalding, and a lease by the Queen to Thomas Browne, and the possessions of Arthur Walpole, Nicholas Walpole, Bevil Wimberley, John States, and John Edgoose, are mentioned].
