Description

Short title: Best v Whitehead.

Plaintiff(s): Henry Best.

Defendant(s): William Whitehead.

Subject of depositions: Manor of Elmswell alias Hemswell, held by plaintiff of the Crown in fee-farm at an annual rent of £29 7s 0d. Whether a messuage or tenement and four oxgangs of land in Hemswell, in the possession of defendant, are his lawful inheritance, or parcel of the demesnes of the manor? [- Arden, owner of Kellethrope and farmer of Elmeswell, and the possessions of James Best (plaintiff's father), and John Whitehead (defendant's father), are mentioned].
