[Sampson Meverell (father of defendant Robert), late of Thorneley (Staffordshire), and Elizabeth, his wife, now Lady Leighton, and a grant of land by Queen Elizabeth to Mr Mildmay and Francis Meverell, eldest son of Sampson, are mentioned].
