Description

Short title: Bishop of Carlisle v Denton.

Plaintiff(s): Henry Bishop of Carlisle.

Defendant(s): John Denton.

Subject of depositions: Manor of Cardew, and the capital messuage thereof called Cardew Hall, in the parish of Dalston, and the towns and hamlets of Cardew. Cardewlees, and Condeynok. By what tenure held? Survey. Touching the manor of Great Raughton, Little Raughton, Combersdall, and the forest of Englewood. By what tenure held? Metes and bounds of the forest Have the Dean and Chapter of the Cathedral Church of Carlisle any lands in the parish of St Mary's, of Carlisle, in Little Combersdale, and in Shadringate and Caldergate near Carlisle City (commonly called the "Law Lordship "). And had the late priory of St Mary of Carlisle any lands in Cardew?.

County/place: Cumberland.

Date of commission: 13 February 1613.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 14 April 1613 at Dalston Church.
