Description

Short title: Courte v Chute.

Plaintiff(s): Sarah Courte, widow, Edward Courte.

Defendant(s): Robert Chute (mayor of Bridgwater), William Holcombe.

Subject of depositions: Borough of Bridgwater. Diversion of water and custom from the King's malt and corn mills, called The Little Mills, by erection of other mills. Touching ale and beer licences, and permission to brew granted by the mayor contrary to the provisions of the Charter of Incorporation granted to the town by Queen Elizabeth, about July 29 Elizabeth Was the Earl of Hertford seised of two parts of such mills, and Her late Majesty of the third part only?.

County/place: Somerset.

Date of commission: 27 November 1611.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 27 December 1611 at Bridgewater.
