Description

Short title: Atkinson v Whelpdale.

Plaintiff(s): Thomas Atkinson, Thomas Hilton, Thomas Brysbie.

Defendant(s): William Whelpdale.

Subject of depositions: Demesnes of the castle of Penrith. Touching new lease of same obtained of Queen Elizabeth by Andrew Whelpdale and defendant, and a custody thereof taken by Thomas Bartram, and suit by Bartramagainst plaintiffs and defendant. Alleged overcharge and dispossession of tenants by defendant. Waste and spoil in the manor.

County/place: Cumberland.

Date of commission: 12 June 1611.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 25 September 1611 at Penrith Church.
