Description

Short title: Jenison v Smyth.

Plaintiff(s): William Jenison, John Jenison.

Defendant(s): George Smyth.

Subject of depositions: Manors or granges of Nunstaynton and Woodhame alias Woodholme, in the bishopric of Durham, a messuage called New Mare, in the lordship of Walworth ( "in the counties of Durham and Sedburgh" and other lands sometime the possessions of William Smyth, of Esh (Durham) defendant's father), and the moors called Eastmoor and Middlemoor, and the manor of Rowley, in the parish of Lanchester, lying near Ivesley, in the parish of Branspeth, and farms in Herrington, and tenements in Barmeton, being the moiety of the town of Barmeton; whether such lands were conveyed by William Smyth to any person at any time before the rebellion of the Earls of Northumberland and Westmorland in the North, in the reign of the late Queen Elizabeth; whether William Smyth joined in the rebellion? [Margaret Hindmarsh, widow, one of the daughters and co-heiresses of Anthony Esh, esquire, and heiress of the Esh Lordship, and the possessions of Robert Stockdale, Christopher Sotheron, Cuthbert Smyth, of Ketton, and of Christopher Legard, are mentioned].
