Description

Short title: Mitchel v Stamer.

Plaintiff(s): Lawrence Mitchel.

Defendant(s): Joseph Stamer.

Subject of depositions: Messuage or dwelling-house, with a garden, in Maldon (Essex), parcel of the manor of Maldon, lately belonging to the Earl of Oxford, now inhabited by defendant, and lately in the possession of John Morris; whether formerly belonging to Sir Thomas Darcy, knight; whether parcel of the late chantreys in Maldon called Darcy's Chantrys; whether at a former trial touching the premises at Chelmsford in 1609, it was proved that they were held in capite or by knight's service, and were parcel of such chantry lands.

County/place: Essex.

Date of commission: 27 June 1610.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 22 September 1610 at Maldon.
