Description

Short title: Attorney General v Honble.

Plaintiff(s): Attorney General.

Defendant(s): Right Honble. Sir Thomas Gerrard, kt, Lord Gerrard, Peter Broughton.

Subject of depositions: Forest of Whittlewood, and particularly one of the walks there called Hanley Walk. Is Hanley Park or Walk distinct from the forest, and "soe free that noe arrest can be done in the same?" Did John Sill, late keeper of Hanley Walk, enjoy the walk by Letters Patent from Queen Elizabeth. Metes and bounds. Right of common. Survey. [The names of eight master foresters, or masters of the game, are mentioned, namely Sir Francis Brian, Sir John Williams, Lord Williams, of Tame, in the time of Henry VIII. Edward VI. and Queen Mary the Marquis of Northampton, the Earl of Leicester, the Earl of Warwick, Sir Christopher Hatton, and the Earl of Essex, in Queen Elizabeth's time, and the Lord Gerrard since].
