Description

Short title: Chambers v Chancellor of the University of Oxford.

Plaintiff(s): Roland Chambers, Robert Chambers, Robert Stockdale, and other tenants of the King's manor of Holme Cultram.

Defendant(s): The chancellor, master, and scholars of Oxford University, Lady Judith Atye, widow of Sir Archibald Atye, Robert Atye, and Henry Baynes, late mayor of Carlisle.

Subject of depositions: Manor and abbey of Holme Cultram. Customs of manor. Touching yearly recompences paid by tenants of such manor for tithes (i.e) for lands in Wolstye, Sowterfeild, Sandenhouse, Heighelawes, Abbey Cowberye, New Cowbyer [Pellerhowe?], Myerside, Ikinburnthorp, Bromepark, Rid...stange, Raby, Goddyhilles, Plaskelland, Harrige, Mosside, Marburgh the younger, Madburgh the elder, Brockeholes, Maweburghe, Becke, Brownerige, Howshowe, Tarnes, Talkeroyte, Swell, Aldaythe, Ethersyde, Newton Artoche, CallNumber Touching also the Carlisle Market bushel measure, altered by Henry Baynes (late mayor of Carlisle) from 20 gallons to 8 gallons, called "ye brass measure." Customs of manor. Tithe of parsonage of Holme Cultram. Survey.
