Description

Short title: Egerton v Wentworth.

Plaintiff(s): Charles Egerton.

Defendant(s): William Wentworth.

Subject of depositions: Capital messuage called "Markenfield" (Yorkshire), and ground called "Holmeside" and "Beanasse" (Durham); whether held by Sir Henry Gates, in the year 24 Eliz, in fee-farm, namely Markenfield, at £19 4s 4d and the rest at £8 18s; touching a distress levied on the lands by Thomas Wentworth, deceased, late high sheriff of York, to recover the fee-farm rent; whether the distress was "driven" and carried into the manor of Gawthropp or Cawthropp, belonging to Mr Wentworth, "and part to Leonard Burton ".

County/place: Yorkshire.

Date of commission: 19 June 1602.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 13 October 1602 at Wetherby.
