Description

Shorth title: Attorney General v Gregory.

Plaintiff(s): Attorney General.

Defendant(s): Robert Gregory of the town and county of Pool, searcher of the port of Weymouth, Melcomb Regis, John Viney, of Lyme Regis.

Subject of depositions: Spanish iron and "Turkey Grograynes" seized to Her Majesty's use by John Chaplin, of Byrtport, at Weymouth Melcomb Regis, and leather seized at the "creek of Chidiock" (Dorset). Alleged "concealment of customs" from the Crown.

County/place: Dorset.

Date of commission: 21 November 1599.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 19 January 1600 at Dorchester.
