Description

Short title: Jarvis v Horsfall.

Plaintiff(s): William Jarvis.

Defendant(s): John Horsfall.

Subject of depositions: Manor of Newsome and Westholme (Durham), belonging to the Earls of Westmorland. [The late will and testament of Henry, late Earl of Westmorland, by which he gave to Margaret Watson the said manor, after the expiration of leases made by the Earl, one to John Cholmeley, of Newsome, and the other to John Dowthwaite, of Westholme, Mr Chator (Her Majesty's surveyor of Her lands "in bishoprick "), Mr Claxton, Her Majesty's receiver, lands in Newsome, passed by one Petronell (5 Edward III) to the Earls of Westmorland, Mr Roger Cholmeley, Henry Earl of Westmorland and Jane his wife, her brother, John Cholmeley, Chas. Earl of Westmorland, Ralph Earl of Westmorland, and a recovery of the Earl of Westmorland's lands about the year 11 Henry VIII are mentioned].
