Description

Short title: Fortescue v Dennis.

Plaintiff(s): Sir John Fortescue, kt, chancellor, and under-treasurer of the Exchequer.

Defendant(s): Thomas Dennis, Thomas Seames, John Veale, Nicholas Roberts, John Hicks, and others.

Subject of depositions: Manor of Barton Abbots, and the late abbey of St Peter, in Gloucester, and the parishes of Upton, Wotton, Longford, and Barnwood. Metes and bounds. Touching the possessions of the Dean and Chapter of Gloucester. Tithes. [The names of Humfrey, John, and Thomas Parker, Mr Abrahall, Nicholas Dennis, Richard Cox, Joan Francomb, Walter Pury, Nichs, and Giles Roberts, and Robert Dobbes, are mentioned].

County/place: Gloucestershire.

Date of commission: 23 November 1597.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 13 January 1598 at Upton St Leonards, certificate dated 16 January 1598.
