Subject of depositions: Grant made by the Queen (Elizabeth) to Robert Earl of Leicester "of the customs, subsidy, and impost" of all Spanish wines brought into England. Touching the payment of custom on Spanish gascon and French wines brought by defendants into the ports of Exeter and Barnstaple (Devon). [A "demise" by John Dyer, Henry Hall, and Christopher Mannering to plaintiff and Roger Norwood (late of Great Torrington (Devon) deceased), of the "impost" of said wines landed in Barnstaple, Anthony Hony, grant of the impost by the Earl to Robert Kitchen and William Newce, late of Bristow, merchants, and a grant of the impost by the Crown to Sir Christopher Hatton, and by him to Peter Haughton, are mentioned].
