Description

Short title: Mayor of Clifton v Trenhele.

Plaintiff(s): The mayor, bailiffs, and burgesses of the borough of Clifton, Dartmouth, and Hardnes.

Defendant(s): John Trenhele.

Subject of depositions: Town or borough of Kingeswere (Devon); whether it is parcel of the port of Dartmouth. Touching the office of water bailiwick of Dartmouth, "assured tothe plaintiffs for ever" under the yearly rent or farm of £14 13s 4d and their claim on the inhabitants of Kingswere for the payment of rents and petty customs.

County/place: Devon.

Date of commission: 8 July 1595.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 23 September 1595 at Dartmouth.
